THE MOVIE'S MUSIC |
Those who have seen Porco Rosso (the crimson pig) or Totoro, perhaps don't know that they already could considerated the talent of Joe Hisaishi (see picture).
From the captivating songs of Totoro to the fabulous themes of Porco, we notice that the soundtrack is worthy to the quality of the animation.
The master Miyazaki (see picture) is used to work with Hisaishi, as Mononoke Hime is the sixth movie from Ghibli which he is entrusting Joe with the music.
This time, Joe Hisaishi has chosen a countertenor who is 28 years-old, Yoshikazu MERA (see picture), for the vocal version of the theme. The result is more than ever (like the whole of the soundtrack) beautiful.
With a theme so magnificent, the melodies so wealthy, an orchestration so efficient, ... we reach the perfection as well as the sound level than the visual level.
There are four CD extracted from the movie:
¤ The album image: that means the composition created in the same time than the movie and inspired by some images and not by the movie itself.
¤ The Soundtrack: where the musics have been adapted to the final movie. it concerns musics almost as they appear into the movie.
¤ The symphonic suite: as he has already done notably for Laputa, Joe Hisaishi has adapted his themes and made them interpretated by the orchestra philarmonic of Prague. He's playing piano for two tunes.
¤ The CD Single.
Joe Hisaishi is not really a novice about composition, he accumulates a large of soundracks (like for exemple the soundtracks for Kitano, his last movie is the summer of Kikujiro).
Numerous albums on his own have been came out (the picture at the top on the left-hand corner is a detail of the jacket from his last album Nostalgia -Piano Stories 3-).

Some of those music don't appear into the movie. All the theme are
nevertheless wonderful. The principal theme is singing by the
female singer initially planed for.
