ASHITAKA |
Ashitaka, the boy of Emishi, can be considarated as the principal movie's character.
We follow him all along the story, except some few scenes. He's trully an heros: his destiny was to become the leader
of his village,during the fight his agility and his strength are near supernaturals. He's as well very wise, ...
So much elements which help the identification with this character.
Inspite of this, he'll be more often witness than actor of these differents events which are happening. At the begining of the movie he's coming
in the war then, into the tragedy which set blacksmiths against animals, as such neutral elements.It's to its credit to let the spectator takes part or not.
In a first time, Ashitaka is unable to choose his side and he doesn't want to. He can just see the antagonisms in place.
The curse's evolution which is covering his harm reminds us after all he's able to have bad feelings .
That hanger, this hatred is deep inside in all of us. All is matter of stability. But Ashitaka by his wound is condamned to suffer the consequences
physically until the death. It's because of this his destiny is a tragedy.
The fact he survives till the end is a real expression of his heroism and his good-sense. This wisdom appears into the way he analyses that new world
he's discovering.Maybe we don't think about it the first time we see the movie, but Ashitaka belongs to a village wide distant. All he's seeing, like the forge
the guns, the blacksmith's way of life, but although the totally fight between men and animals is brand-new for him. It doesn't prevent him to analyse calmy the events
and to draw fair conclusions.
It's certainly because of these he arrives to get back the liking from the Tatara's people.
At the end of the movie, it's beside of San he succeeds to stop the devil's progression.
It takes the collaboration of both heroes to free all kinds of life of the mountain from their death destiny.
Because it's the peak of the fight between the animals & the humans: a battle between life and death...
